World War II. Unfabricated Stories: (Not) Our Living Other is a historical non-fiction book compiled by contemporary Ukrainian publicist and journalist Vakhtang Kipiani. The publication collects family stories and narratives about how our people experienced the terrible period that lasted from the dark 1939 to the victorious 1945.
Soviet propaganda never ceased to remind about the price of freedom, highlighting the "historical truth" that differed significantly from the testimonies of Ukrainians. However, time destroyed Stalin's ideological machine, eyewitnesses of the events are no longer afraid to speak openly about the realities of World War II, and they are ready to tell the true Ukrainian story, without embellishment or exaggeration.
