Animal Farm

George Orwell became world-renowned at the end of his life when, in 1945, with considerable difficulty, he published a fairy-tale novella, or rather an allegorical parable about the rise of the totalitarian regime in the USSR, "Animal Farm."

In the preface to the Ukrainian edition—it is worth noting that this was the first translation of "Animal Farm" from English into another language—the author primarily stated: it was very important for him that people in the West see the Soviet regime for what it truly was. And he did so brilliantly. The main characters of the book are animals, whom their leaders—intelligent pigs—incited to rebel against their negligent human master. Having seized power, all those pigs immediately forgot about the declared rules for a future happy life. What actually happened next is already history, studied in textbooks. But it is interpreted differently, seeking "something good" in totalitarian societies with their poverty, famines, repressions, and pervasive lies. Therefore, it is significant that this work has not lost its relevance.
