Conclave (Devil's Night 3.5)

Conclave is a short but significant novella in the dark romance Devil's Night universe by American author Penelope Douglas. The story maintains the author's signature style, where the characters' past relentlessly pursues them in the present, and is not without introspective flashbacks that reveal each character from a new perspective.

The story expands and deepens the plotlines of the main characters of the series – the “Four Horsemen” – Michael Crist, Kai Mori, and Damon Torrance. As well as the women who drive them crazy – the blind ballerina Winter Ashby, who is expecting a child, the privileged mayor's daughter Rika Fane, the mysterious Banks Torrance, and the prostitute Alex Palmer, who has a surprisingly strange relationship with Will Grayson III. The fourth Horseman has gone missing, and friends suspect that influential parents, dissatisfied with his lifestyle after leaving prison, have hidden him in a mysterious place – allegedly on the “Get-Your-Act-Together” island. Will comes from an extremely wealthy family, and his grandfather wants to run for governor. The characters believe that this place is more dangerous than prison… The daredevils from Devil's Night cannot just sit idly by. They decide to convene a “Conclave” on a yacht to sort out the situation, uncover the accumulated secrets, and save their friend.
