The book "Hell Bent" is a sequel to the famous fantasy novel "Ninth House" by American author Leigh Bardugo. Galaxy "Alex" Stern and Dawes are desperately trying to find Darlington and pull him out of hell, even if it means sacrificing their future at Lethe, Yale, and their own lives. It soon becomes clear that they can't handle it alone: Alex knows why and what kind of team they need. They must immediately find two very special people: something much bigger than just Darlington's disappearance is afoot.

Then, members of the faculties begin to die. Alex and Dawes now have to find not only Darlington but also someone or something behind the wicked events in New Haven. The action plan to retrieve the gentleman-aristocrat from purgatory has a clear list of steps to follow to achieve the goal: find a portal to the afterlife, pass through it, steal a soul from there, and get out! The only problem is that almost no one has ever returned from such journeys…
