Morgan Grant and her sixteen-year-old daughter Clara can't seem to find common ground. Morgan is determined not to let her daughter make the same mistakes she did: getting pregnant and marrying too young. Because of this, Morgan put her own dreams on hold. Clara, however, refuses to listen to advice. Her predictable mother lacks even a shred of spontaneity. They don't see eye to eye on anything, neither in character nor in goals – it's becoming increasingly difficult for mother and daughter to coexist. The only one who can bring peace to the home is Chris, Morgan's husband, Clara's father, and the family's anchor. But this peace shatters when Chris tragically dies in an accident under questionable circumstances.

In a futile attempt to rebuild everything that was destroyed, Morgan finds support in someone she least expected it from, and Clara finds it in the one boy she's forbidden to talk to. With each passing day, each new secret, each new offense, and each new misunderstanding, mother and daughter grow further apart. And it seems they will never be close again…
