Seven days until the end of the world

The world is doomed. The exact date of the apocalypse is known. To save everyone, scientists create a Machine on a remote island that initiates a time loop. Now humanity is forced to relive the same hot summer week over and over again. Chaos engulfs the world, as one can do anything with impunity, even rob or kill, and by the following Monday, the cycle will restart, with only memories remaining. But gradually, the madness subsides, and humanity begins to adapt and build a new order. But what if the Machine doesn't work as reliably as it seemed? Can a former scientist, whose research initiated all of this, and a disillusioned soldier find a way to reclaim the future? And is there truly still a future?
