Edith Eger was sent to Auschwitz when she was 16 years old, where she lost her parents, but she and her sister managed to survive. A few years after her liberation, she emigrated to America, where for decades she worked on healing from her trauma. This book tells the story of her time in the concentration camp and her liberation, the story of her self-healing and the role Victor Frankl, a psychotherapist and fellow Auschwitz survivor, played in this process, as well as the stories of her patients whom she helped overcome difficult moments.
According to the author, no one can avoid suffering in their life, but everyone has a choice of how to emerge from such situations – as a victim or a survivor. And this book is about how to reach such a choice, how to free oneself from trauma.
